Below are a few of the films that I was thinking of discussing in upcoming episodes. Are there any new-ish movies that you'd recommend?
Sicko Lake of Fire The Messenger Slumdog Millionaire Happy-Go-Lucky

On your list, Sicko should be interesting. "What God has to do with healthcare?" would be the question to answer.
And, of course, May 28th is when "Agora" starts in limited release in the US.

I'm reminded of something my BP co-host joked about, when he said that he couldn't wait for Kick-Ass to come out, so he could finally, at long last, stop hearing so much about it.

While it does appear to be the same article linked twice, I'll at least give that one a read. Thanks!

"Knowing"........I wish I had the time or words to convey to you the majesty of knowing. It is a truely marvelous film. A hallmark of science fiction cinema. I thank God everyday for Ebert for without him I never would have saw it. Please dont listen to the scoffers. I was one of them until I read roger's review. You know how they say cloverfield is the best film about 9/11 that isn't about 9/11. Well knowing is the best film made about the christian apocalyse that isn't "directly" about the christian apocalyspe. Please watch..........but only...if you can keep and open mind. Also there is M. Night Shamalyan's "Signs". A brilliant and timely film considering he is about to release another flick Maybe that one could be about how a christian deals with living in an uncertain world with wars and rumors of wars and such things like that.

OK, for you, West Coast podcasters, "Agora" will be shown in LA on June 4th. You'll be happy to know that I went and saw Agora today. I will be talking about it on the show sometime in the next couple of weeks. The companion film will be Stanley Kramer's Inherit the Wind, starring Spencer Tracy and Fredric March.

Congratulations! Happy to help in your quest for great podcasting! If you need any additional material and comment, please let me know.
Pairing with "Inherit the Wind"? It definitively gets the Science element and is a good choice.
However, I would like to suggest an additional pairing (and you can try a "trio" format): "The Passion Of Joan Of Arc", by Carl Theodor Dreyer. There it is Religion vs. Religion with a good deal of politics / history. In a way, it shows that in ancient times, arguing against the status quo (religious hierarchy) got you into trouble no matter whether you were on the same side (God's) or not. [Maybe it still works the same way today when you go against the status quo]
Of course, the trio could enable you to discuss how different narrative / aesthetic approaches can help you deliver your message: Confrontation by close-ups (Joan), classic courtroom drama (Wind) and fashion / color (Agora, white and elegant vs. black and dirty -punk?).
So both Hypatia and Joan share the same destiny (death in the name of God) even though they were very different (non believer / believer) and their "crimes" had different motives (the quest for scientific discovery / the need to make God's will come true). And, of course, both of them were women against a male-dominated world. [Have things really changed?]
Enjoy Comic Con!

I do like the idea of finally getting a silent film recommendation in there. However, I haven't yet seen it. Among the many themes that we'll be exploring with Agora/Inherit the Wind is the Christian community's frequent unwillingness to hold their own leaders responsible. While I try to have respect for pastors and such, I know that any kind of power can go to a person's head and, before you know it, you're twisting scripture in order to ensure you retain that power. And, of course, there's the concept that Christianity cannot hold its own in the marketplace of ideas. I don't agree with this, but I understand how some people believe it, since many Christians- such as the ones in these films- approach questions and doubts with hostility and, in some cases, violence. The episode probably won't go up for another few weeks, but I'm excited to get it out there. I really liked Agora, even though I have a general distaste for Rachel Weisz. Everything you mentioned about the movie made me think it was going to be incredibly preachy. However, the filmmaker was smart enough to realize that, first and foremost, he was telling a story about characters living in a tumultuous time. No matter what the message of a film, I always appreciate when the filmmaker tries to be engaging on an artistic level first, and I was pleased to find that this was the case here.

Hmm. Or maybe if you want to do a Michael Moore/Christianity & Capitalism episode what about his polemic - Capitalism: A Love Story compared & contrasted with the more balanced & much better - The Corporation.

I am planning on someday tackling Lake of Fire, but the task is very daunting for several reasons. As for Hell House, that was the companion film for Religulous. While I do love the movie and highly recommend it, I'm not sure if I will ever revisit it as the primary film. Either way, if you want to go back and listen to episode 3, you'll hear my thoughts on the film. Thanks for the suggestions.
